Sometimes i amaze whether true love really exist i wonder, but when i see Taj standing on the banks of Yamuna, i always get my answer. Yes true love is there, and it is depicted in the form of this beautiful white marble mausoleum. I think Taj is the best example of the most romantic love story of all times, the 

 
story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz Mahal died but her love, her image was apprehended in this wonderful epitome of love.

Few days back i was reading a book on Taj and i came across some really interesting facts about this monument. I would like to share these facts with you.

. It is said that after working out on the white marble Taj, Shah Jahan was intended to build another Taj but in black marble.

. Some people also believe that the main layout of Taj was designed by Geronimo Veroneo (an Italian).

. One of the most popular myth about Taj is that, this building is sinking.

. Another one is that the site where Taj is standing earlier belonged to Maharaja Jai Singh and Shah Jahan bought this place from him to construct this building.

Mumtaz Mahal before her death extracted four promises from her husband – a) to build a memorial to their undying love, b) he should remarry after her death, c) take every care of her children and d) he should visit the memorial every year on her death anniversary. Shah Jahan kept the promises and erected a magnificent memorial dedicated to his beloved wife. The construction of Taj Mahal India began in the year 1632 and took 22 years for its completion. The white mausoleum was built by a labour force of 20, 000 people. The group of skilled architects, stone-carvers, inlay craftsmen, calligraphers and mansions were appointed to build this the historical building.

White marble building stands on a raised, square platform with its four abridged corners, making an unequal octagon. The central dome of Taj Mahal measures 213 feet in height and 58 feet in diameter, which stand bordered with four intricately carved chambers. A burial crypt inside the monument houses the tombs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
