ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-NZ vs SA

One more quarter finals and one more team confirmed their spot in the semis. New Zealand became the 3rd team that entered the semi finals after a very exciting match with South Africa. Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur Bangladesh became the witness of this very interesting match. Fantastic bowling by Jacob Oram was the key factor of the victory of the Kiwi team.

South Africa as usual again choked leading to its defeat by 49 runs. Although the target was not so big, in fact it was looking quite easy at one point of time. But hard luck for the South African team.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-Ind vs Aus

Ending all the speculations, India finally confirmed its place in the semi final of World Cup 2011 where they will face Pakistan. Crushing the Kangaroo team with 5 wickets haul, India at last took their revenge of the 2003 world cup final. The entire Motera stadium in Ahmedabad was echoing and cheering for Indian team.

Yuvraj Singh again acted as the savior for the Indian team. His brilliant innings of 57 runs, along with 2 wickets haul he emerged as the clear winner. On the other hand Australian team was very disappointed with its own performance. It was also the last World Cup of Ricky Pointing.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-Pak vs WI


Pakistan did it again. Keeping alive the hopes of their cricket fans, Pakistan is the first team to enter the semi-finals of World Cup 2011. Crushing West Indies by 10 wickets haul, this team has emerged as a great threat to its opponents. Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur Dhaka Bangladesh was the witness of this exciting match. Fantastic bowling, brilliant batting line up, excellent fielding, Pakistan has emerged a clear winner in every department.

On the other side West Indian batsmen had no answer for strong bowling of Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez. Hafeez also contributed with his bat and showed the victory path to his team.

ICC World Cup 2011-Aus vs Can

World Cup 2011 is proving to be very lucky for the Kangaroo team, as they haven't lost any match till date. With each match Australia has proved their metal. Yesterday's match played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore saw some really fantastic efforts put up by the Kangaroos who won this match by 7 wickets.

The brilliant innings of Shane Watson and Brad Haddin helped their team, achieving the target of 212 runs in just 34.5 overs. On the other hand Canada lost their early wickets. And the middle order batsmen were not able to stand against the Australian bowlers.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-SA vs Ire


At last the sheer hard work of the South African team played well. After many hits and misses, South Africa finally entered the quarter finals after beating Ireland with a huge margin of 131 runs. Yesterday's match played at the Eden Gardens Grounds, Kolkata saw some really fantastic bowling efforts by Robin Peterson and Morne Morkel.

On the other side Kevin O'Brien again disappointed the Irish fans. Some people are also saying that he was only a one match wonder. So it will be very interesting to see South Africa taking up the tough fight against the other teams in the world cup.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-Pak vs Zim


The rain played a spoil sport at the Pallekele Stadium, Kandy, Sri Lanka at yesterday's match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe. Although in the end Pakistan emerged as a winer and finally fixed their spot in the quarters.

Chasing a target of 162 runs (that was given according to the Duckworth/Lewis method) Pakistan's opening was not so impressive but with the good innings of Asad Shafiq, they achieved their target. On the other hand Zimbabwe continued their poor performance in this world cup. With this loss they also lost their chance of entering the quarters.

Zimbabwe: 151-7 (34.1)

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-NZ vs Can

After much efforts New Zealand finally manged to fix their place in the quarter finals. Crushing Canada with 97 runs, the Kiwi team proved that they are still in the race. The outstanding batting of the Kiwis was a real pleasure to see. Although the Canadian team also put up great efforts, but all was in vain.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai was the venue where this exciting match was seen yesterday. After such a great victory it will be really exciting to see New Zealand fighting for the world cup trophy in the quarters.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-Aus vs Kenya

The Australian team once again proved that why they are still the world champion. Beating Kenya with a margin of 60 runs, Australia has confirmed its place in the quarter finals. Although Kenya put up strong efforts against such a strong team, yet they failed to succeed.

On the other hand, Australian team was seen in its old winning spirit, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. With this win they proved that they still are the biggest contenders of this world cup.

India faced their first defeat in the world cup 2011. After such a brilliant start by the opening batsmen, Indian team was not able to continue their winning spree. Soon after Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar got out, the remaining team made only 29 runs. Chasing an easy target of only 296 runs at the VCA Ground Nagpur Maharashtra, South Africa shattered the dream of Indian cricket fans.

Although India's position in quarter finals is still fixed, yet this defeat was a real shock for everyone.

What a fantastic match it was, simply unbelievable. Yesterday's match played at the Pallekele Stadium, saw some really interesting twists and turns. Crushing the hopes of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka finally managed to secure the top position in the group A tally.

The opening partnership of 282 runs between Dilshan and Upul Tharanga is the best opening innings in the history of world cup. Winning this match with a huge margin of 139 runs, Sri Lanka has fixed their spot in the quarter finals.

Another easy win for the strong Indian team against the, not so popular Netherlands. Yesterday's match played at the Feroz Shah Kotla grounds in Delhi, saw a brilliant innings by Yuvraj Singh, who emerged as the match winner. With this win India confirmed its place in the quarter-finals. Chasing a target of 190 runs India lost early 5 wickets. But somehow with the fantastic partnership of Yuvraj and Dhoni managed to register a 5 wicket victory.

Although this win was not well received by many cricketing legends. According to them Indian team has much potential and they can do much better than it.

Yesterday the Kiwi team gifted a fantastic win over Pakistan to the birthday boy Ross Taylor. Playing a brilliant not out innings of 131 runs, Ross proved that New Zealand is still a big competition in 2011 World Cup. Pakistan on the other side faced their first defeat of this world cup and that too with a huge margin of 110 runs. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka became the battle ground for these two teams.

Finally after so much efforts Canada won their first match in world cup 2011. Beating Kenya with a 5 wickets haul the Canadian bowlers showed their real strength. Yesterday's match played at the Ferozshah Kotla stadium in Delhi saw some really interesting batting innings. Batting first Kenya gave an easy target of 199 runs which the Canadian team achieved in just 45.3 overs.

Yesterday's match between West Indies and Bangladesh was, one of the shortest match in the history of Cricket World Cup. It was also one of the worst performances of the Bangladeshi team at their home ground. The fantastic bowling line up of the West Indian team crushed all the hopes of their opponents by restricting them to a mere score of just 58 runs.

The Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur Dhaka became the battle ground for these two teams. It was a very easy target for the West Indies team that they achieved in 12.2 overs. This loss made the Bangladeshi fans so furious that they even attacked the bus carrying the players of the West Indies team.

Crushing the entire Dutch team with a huge margin of 231 runs, the South African team is leading the point tally of Group B. The brilliant batting line up along with fantastic bowling helped South Africa in achieving their biggest victory in World Cup 2011. The Punjab Cricket Association stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh became the battle ground where this magic was seen in yesterday's match.

The power packed innings of AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and J P Dumminy drove their team to a huge score of 351 runs. Netherlands on the other side tried their best to achieve this score but leg spinner Imran Tahir and Jacques Kallis shattered all the hopes of the Dutch team.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-Eng vs Ire

World Cup's first ever fastest century by Kevin O'Brien, finally led his team to their maiden victory. With this win the Ireland team also broke the old jinx of defeating the English team. This miracle was seen in yesterday's match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Since the beginning it was looking really impossible for the Irish team to chase a big score of 328 runs, but with the brilliant inning of O'Brien this became possible.

From the starting the England bowling line up was dominating the opponents. But as soon Kevin came on field all their hopes were crashed. Claiming a 3 wickets win over England, the Ireland team proved that they are still in the competition.

World Cup 2011-SL vs Kenya

The brilliant hat-trick of the fast bowler Lasith Malinga crushed the hopes of Kenyan team's victory. With this hat-trick he became the first player who bagged the two hat tricks in World Cup matches. His 6-38 wickets haul helped his team in establishing an easy 9 wickets win over the opponents. The R Premadasa stadium in Colombo was packed with cricket crazy fans who were present their to cheer the home team. Even the Sri Lankan team proved their metal.

The Lankan team also proved that it is very difficult to beat the Lions in their own den.

A fantastic hat-trick by the West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach's shattered the hopes of Netherlands, in the one sided match played on the Ferozshah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. This is first hat-trick of this world cup. Batting first the West Indies made a very subtle score of 330 runs. While the brilliant performance by the bowlers restricted the opponent team to a mere score of only 115 runs.
Kemar Roach took six wickets for only 27 runs and confirmed his team's victory.

Cricket World Cup Update-Pak vs SL

After some hysterical moments and some unfortunate mis-fields Pakistan finally managed to beat the strong team of Sri Lanka with a mere 11 runs, at the R Premdasa Stadium Colombo. In the 10th match of Group A played on 26th February, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. With the powerful batting line up made a stable score of 277 runs.

Sri Lanka on the other hand started with a bang, but soon after its strong batsmen got out, the whole team fell apart. Although there were some moments when the target was looking easy for the Lankan team, but in the end all their efforts failed.

Pakistan: 277-7 (50), Shahid Afridi was declared Man of the Match

Cricket World Cup Update-India vs England


After such a great start the Indian team and their fans had to settle for a tie against the English team on Sunday. Packed with thousands of cricket crazy fans the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore became the battle ground for the two most strong teams of this world cup. Since the beginning the Indian batsmen were dominating the field with their powerful shots. Sachin Tendulkar's 120 runs helped India getting to a prominent score of 338 runs.

Chasing the big score of 338 was looking quite difficult for the England team, but with the brilliant batting line up, Andrew Strauss's innings of 158 runs and India's weak bowling and fielding was making this match slipping away from India's hands.

With each passing over England was getting near to victory, but in the last over with 2 runs required India finally managed to tie this match.
