Cricket World Cup 2011 - Venues In India

With the each passing moment, the excitement of the cricket world cup is rising day by day. As the world cup is just at the doorstep, Indian team is preparing itself for a clean sweep out. Also the country is ready to welcome the players and the sports lovers, who are coming here from every corner of the world. Infact all the venues are also ready for a heating face off between the teams.

In this world cup India is one of the hosting country along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. There will be total 29 matches to be played in the 8 cities of India, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Mohali, Nagpur and Ahmedabad.
Delhi, the capital city of India is one of the 8 cities where you can enjoy an exciting match at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. After the match next day you can plan a trip to the popular tourist destinations of this city like India Gate, Akshardham temple, Jantar Mantar, Lotus temple, Red Fort and many other places.

One can catch the real excitement of this world cup only at the Wankhade stadium in Mumbai, as the final will be played here. So after the world cup ends go on a tour of this amazing city. Here you can watch Gateway of India, Sidhi Vinayak temple, Bandra, Juhu beaches, Haji Ali Mosque, Chattrapati Shivaji terminus and many other interesting places.

Sardar Patel stadium ( also known as Motera) located in Ahmedabad, one of the most colorful cities of India will also witness the rising pulses of the ardent cricket lovers. After the thrilling match you can go for a relaxing sight seeing of this city. Jama Masjid, Ahmed Shah tomb, Bhadra fort, Hathesing temple, Akshardham temple situated in Gandhinagar just 30 km from this city are the most famous tourist places of Ahmedabad.

Chennai is known for temples so when you are here for the match(M A Chidambram Stadium), do make it a point to visit the beautiful temples in and around the city. The Kapaleeshwar temple, temples of  Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram. The last one is famous for it silk fabric. While in Chennai, do not miss a visit to the Marina beach and Fort St George as well.
