Extravagant Ceremony Inaugurates World Cup 2011


Dazzling fireworks, astonishing laser show, high voltage show by Bryan Adams, Sonu Niggam and Shankar Ehsaan Loy illuminated the Bangabandhu National Stadium of Dhaka. All this was witnessed last night, when finally the much awaited Cricket World Cup 2011 was kicked off with a wonderful opening ceremony.

Surprising everyone with all the glitter and extravagance, Bangladesh put up a spectacular show that will be remembered for a long time. After a short speech the Bangladesh President Sheikh Hasina Wajid announced the official beginning of the biggest entertaining event of this year. Sharad Pawar (ICC Head and BCCI Chief) was also present there.

The stadium was packed with almost 25,000 cricket frenzy fans who came here from all around the world. The main attraction of the night were the beautifully decorated rickshaws, in which the Captains of all the 14 nations arrived. Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain and last world cup's champion was leading this bandwagon. Along with the cricketers of the 14 teams around 3000 performers from India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh spell-bounded the spectators with their lively performance. With this amazing ceremony Bangladesh proved its mark on the Cricketing World and confirmed its capabilities of coming to benchmark with other cricket playing countries.

So get ready with your popcorns for the biggest fight of the year 2011 as the 14 countries will fight for the enticing World Cup Trophy.
